While light-hearted in nature, Mama Rose does back away from serious and relevant current topics such as:

On a special Pride edition of "The Mama Rose Show" on Wednesday, June 16th on Youtube, Mama Rose, in a letter to America and our government, responded to the Supreme Court of the United States’ (SCOTUS) ruling that the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits sex discrimination, now also applies to protecting LGBTQ+ workers from job discrimination. Mama Rose also sings Dick Gallagher (music) and Mark Waldrop's (lyrics) song "Laughing Matters” originated in the 1996 gay musical revue Howard Crabtree's When Pigs Fly, and later recorded by Bette Midler. “Laughing Matters,” an ironic title and song, foreshadows the events of the world today with poignant lyrics.

And on the June 3rd episode of “The Mama Rose Show,” guests contributed short video messages about the recent events in our country in solidarity with the Black Lives Matters movement. Mama Rose begins with a brief introduction with a powerful quote reflective of the movement used with permission from the musical “Birthday Boy” by Brett Roelofs (book, music and lyrics) and Jack Donahue (book and lyrics). The diverse array of guests from around the country and world who contributed messages included LA-based multiple Billboard charting singer/songwriter Debby Holiday, NYC-based singer/LGBTQ+ activist Tym Moss, LA-based actor/designer T. Ashanti Mozelle, London-based jazz and cabaret star Harold Sanditen, NYC-based award-winning drag performer and LGBTQ+ activist Zola Powell and more.

Back in February 2020 right before Valentine’s Day, Miller took to the stage as a headliner for the show "Love and Other Feelings" at The Hidden Cabaret at The Secret Room. The show was hosted by Craig Horsley and the music director was Terry Burress (who has worked with Mariah Carey, Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin and many other icons). This marked Miller’s return to being on stage after 20 years of working behind the scenes as a stage manager, director and designer on the Off-Broadway circuit. To a sold out crowd, Stephen wooed the audience with his rendition of  "Can't Help Loving That Man" and "Feelings." Read the rave reviews of the show on Broadway World and ENinaRothe.com.

Before his return to the stage, Miller featured his talents in Special Education as a paraeducator in his hometown of Bridgewater, New Hampshire, as well as the chair of the drama program for the Newfound Memorial Middle School in which he completed six incredible productions with the students of the school. Stephen has a long range of theatrical extravaganzas including his work at New York City's Metropolitan Opera in the Children’s chorus led by Elena Dore, as well as studying with the late Sanford Meisner. Stephen’s favorite theatrical adventures include: Titanic, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, She Loves Me, West Side Story, Die Fledermaus. Directing: The Belle of Amherst (Off-Broadway), The Cover of Life (Off-Broadway), Love is a Bad Neighborhood (Off-Broadway). Stage Managing: 2071, The World We'll Leave Our Grandchildren (Off-Broadway), The Cherry Orchard (Off-Broadway), The Bare Truth (Off-Broadway), King John (Off-Broadway).
